Our research group is based on the collaboration between two research centers of the University of Louvain : the Clinical Psychology Department (CDSP), and the Neurosciences Institute (NEUROCS).
Our main goal is to understand better (a) how the human brain perceives and recognises emotional stimuli and more particularly emotional faces, and (b) the nature of the cognitive deficits (attentionnal, perceptual and/or executive) present in various psychiatric pathologies (e.g. depression, anxiety, alcoholism).
Our working hypotheses are grounded on " the cognitive psychopathology framework ", aiming to:
(1) Link up these deficits with disturbances in everyday life;
(2) Approach these cognitive deficits by means of various theoretical models to understand their functional origin.
We also refer to " cognitive neurosciences ", in the sense that our objective also consists in defining the cerebral correlates of these various cognitive deficits.
Our works combine a variety of methods including behavioral measures, electrophysiology (EEG, ERPs), neurofonctional anatomy (fMRI), psychophysiological measures (electrodermal responses, cardiovascular changes), and single-case studies.
